If you use RStudio, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + C ( Command + Shift + C on macOS) to comment out a line of text.
Quickly comment/uncomment blocks and lines. In JetBrains IDEs, you can comment and uncomment blocks of code with ⌘⇧/ (macOS) / Ctrl+Shift+W ( Windows/Linux). To do the same for lines, use ⌘/ (macOS) / Ctrl+/ (Windows/Linux).
You can also use a single-line comment ( // ) to deactivate code on a single line. Comments do not affect the functionality of your code, but they can be helpful for temporarily disabling a section of code or explaining what a particular section of code does.
To comment out HTML code, use the less than symbol ( ) followed by an exclamation mark ( ! ), 2 hyphens ( -- ), the comment, 2 hyphens again ( -- ), and greater than symbol ( ).
In the C/C++ editor, select multiple line(s) of code to comment out. To comment out multiple code lines right-click and select Source Add Block Comment. ( CTRL+SHIFT+/ )
Alternatively, you can also use the following key combination: Select the code block that you want to comment-out. Press the Ctrl key and the Shift key and the C key at the same time. This will comment-out the selected code block.
Windows: Ctrl + K + C. Mac: Command + K + C.
Block Comment You can comment out selected block of code with C style comment /* */ . To do so, select the block of code you want to comment out and press CTRL+Shift+/ (slash).
