TIFF was designed purely to store images, not text, so standard TIFF can only become searchable by having an OCR process create a separate text file which is separately indexed.
A TIFF, which stands for Tag Image File Format, is a computer file used to store raster graphics and image information. A favorite among photographers, TIFFs are a handy way to store high-quality images before editing if you want to avoid lossy file formats. TIFF files: Have either a . tiff or .
A GeoTIFF is a TIF file that ends in a three letter . tif extension just like other TIF files, but a GeoTIFF contains additional tags that provide projection information for that image as specified by the GeoTIFF standard.
The TIFF Dumper plugin uses the Bio-Formats plugin to display the tags of the current image. The Debug mode option in EditOptionsMisc, when enabled, causes ImageJ to display tags when opening TIFF images. The ImageShow Info command and the getMetadata() macro function(), in v1.

Windows Photos and Photo Viewer, both included with the different version of Windows, can be used to open a TIF file. These apps dont provide a means for editing them, though. On a Mac, the Preview app can open TIF files.
In the Windows operating system, this can be done as follows, open the Explorer application, find your TIFF document, right-click on the file, select the Properties option, you will see the document properties window TIFF and its metadata.
