While GIFs may be uploaded, theyll be converted to a static JPEG, PNG, or WEBP. Header image: The ideal image size is 2048x1152px (16:9 aspect ratio) and a file size no larger than 10MB. Supported file formats are JPEG, PNG, WEBP, and GIFs.
A GIF file starts with a header with a fixed length for example, GIF87a or GIF89a. It provides the file version and logical screen descriptor (also with a fixed length) specifying logical screen dimensions in pixels and additional characteristics.
The first 3 bytes of the GIF file are always the hexadecimal string 0x47 0x49 0x46 which is the string GIF in ASCII characters. Bytes 4-6 are either the hex string 0x38 0x37 0x61 or 0x38 0x39 0x61, which is either 87a or 89a in ASCII, depending on the version of encoding used.
The best GIF size ranges between 15 KB and 1 MB. This value will vary for each particular file you export, and will be influenced by which platform you intend to use the GIF on. For example, most e-mail client software will encourage users to aim for GIF file sizes below 200 KB.
GIF files start with a fixed-length header (GIF87a or GIF89a) giving the version, followed by a fixed-length Logical Screen Descriptor giving the pixel dimensions and other characteristics of the logical screen.
GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. GIF is a raster file format designed for relatively basic images that appear mainly on the internet. Each file can support up to 8 bits per pixel and can contain 256 indexed colors. GIF files also allow images or frames to be combined, creating basic animations.
The format can contain up to 8 bits per pixel, allowing a single image to reference its own palette of up to 256 different colors chosen from the 24-bit RGB color space.
The average HTML file size is 5.6 kilobytes, the average GIF file size is 4.1 kilobytes, and the average JPEG file size is 12.8 kilobytes. In figure 7, we see the distribution of sizes of files belonging to the three most common mime type.
