Camera settings To get plenty of light on your subject, start with a low f-stop setting. Experiment with everything from 1.4 to 4. If the background isnt dark enough, you can narrow your lens aperture a bit by raising it to around 6. This limits the light entering the lens, making the background darker.
Set your cameras ISO to a low level, from 100 to 125. This decreases the cameras sensitivity to light, which will darken your photos background and remove unwanted texture. Adjust your shutter speed to compensate for these changes. See how a fast shutter works with your aperture.
Exposure Settings For Black Background Most of the time when there is a huge contrast between the light on the subject and the background, metering for the subject will give a dark or black background. Some of the camera settings you can try are, Set the iso to the lowest possible. Use the fastest possible shutter
If using flash, set shutter speed to flash sync speed. Choose a moderately narrow aperture value like f/5.6 and see how the frame looks. You can take a test shot to see if you have a dark background. If not, you can narrow the aperture further down till you get a dark background.
Open Canva to access our free photo editor. Upload your photo. Upload the image you want to edit, then drag and drop it onto a blank canvas. Change the colors of the background. Click Edit Image Adjust. Enhance your photo. Take your design to the next level with photo effects. Download and save your image.
Use Portrait Mode: When taking a photo, use Portrait Mode and select Stage Light Mono. This will automatically darken the background and turn it black while keeping your subject illuminated. Edit in Photos App: Open the photo you want to edit, tap on Edit and select the BW filter.
