hey its Jamie and this video is just a super quick guide to some tips on safe binding so the first thing Im going to say is if youre thinking about binding I would always recommend buying an official binder and I never use things like ace bandages or duct tape or anything always go down the official route if you really cant and there are some places online where you can find some tips on DIY binding or you can use a sports bra and sort of clever layering but if you can always get an official binder so the length of time you wear a binder for is really important and its highly recommended that you do not exceed 8 hours in any one chunk never double bind only wear one at a time you still are self-conscious about your chest I know its really tempting to double bind but its better to layer you know like a t-shirt and then a baggy a shirt over the top and can work wonders if I sleep in your binder that is its just those sleeping when you take your binder off take a few deep breaths

You should avoid wearing a binder for more than 8 hours. For people under 18, we recommend taking it off after 6 hours. If you have to wear it for longer than this, we suggest going to the bathroom or another private space and removing your binder for 5 10 minutes to stretch out your muscles and chest.
That said, even a dedicated binder is not without risk, and binding improperly or for too long can lead to chest and back pain, rib bruising and fractures, shortness of breath, overheating, and skin damage.
Dont wear binders for longer than 8-12 hours and do not sleep while wearing your binder. Its also crucial to schedule binder-breaks daily and make sure you arent binding every day. People who bind their breasts more frequently, such as every day, are more likely to experience negative side effects (2,4).
The maximum amount of time you should wear a binder is about eight hours and NEVER sleep with your binder on. Some recommend finding time in your schedule where you are comfortable taking binder breaks for one or two days per week during downtime.
If your binder is too small or too tight, it can: Restrict breathing. Irritate your skin. Break skin around the edges of the binder. Cause overheating. Bruise or fracture your ribs.
Binding helps a person feel more comfortable in their body by creating the appearance of a flatter chest. This can be a good option for people who arent able to get (or dont want) top surgery but want to alleviate feelings of gender dysphoria.
Binding involves wrapping material tightly around the breasts to flatten them. It will not shrink breast tissue or prevent the breasts from growing, but binding can help the breasts look smaller and may make a person feel more comfortable. Talk to a doctor about the safest way to use a binder.
All reputable companies that supply binders recommend that you only wear your binder for a maximum of 8 hours a day! This is because binding for too long every day over an extended period can break down tissue and cause breathing problems, back pain, and skin irritation.
Some transgender teens say they buy binders so that they can pass as male or to diminish feelings of discomfort with the body known as body dysphoria. And though wearing binders is temporary, their use can be associated with later medical transition.
Do not wear the binder more then 12 hours at a time, 8-10 hours is best, take it off when at home or in private times. Bind as little as you can get yourself to. Never sleep in your binder. If you hear a rattling or wheezing in your lungs this means you have been wearing it too long or too tightly.
