Edit legend texts Click the chart. Click Chart Filters. next to the chart, and click Select Data. Select an entry in the Legend Entries (Series) list, and click Edit. In the Series Name field, type a new legend entry. Tip: You can also select a cell from which the text is retrieved. Click the Identify Cell icon. Click OK.
Click the chart, and then click the Chart Design tab. Click Add Chart Element Legend. To change the position of the legend, choose Right, Top, Left, or Bottom. To change the format of the legend, click More Legend Options, and then make the format changes that you want.
The legend elements are the parent element. This tag is used to define the caption for the element. The tag also supports the Global Attributes and Event Attributes in HTML.
Format a chart legend Right-click the legend, and then click Font. On the Font tab, make the changes that you want to the font or font size.
Select your chart and on the Chart Design tab, choose Select Data. Choose on the legend name you want to change in the Select Data Source dialog box, and select Edit. Note: You can update Legend Entries and Axis Label names from this view, and multiple Edit options might be available.
Regardless of how you choose to present your data, youll need to give the reader some context about whats in the table or figure if you do use them. This context is called the legend, the short textual information that guides the reader in interpreting what they see.
Show a chart legend Select a chart and then select the plus sign to the top right. Point to Legend and select the arrow next to it. Choose where you want the legend to appear in your chart.
