Kerning is the spacing between individual letters or characters. Unlike tracking, which adjusts the amount of space between the letters of an entire word in equal increments, kerning is focused on how type looks creating readable text thats visually pleasing.
To turn on kerning in Microsoft Word on Windows, open your document and follow these simple steps. Open the Font Dialog Box by clicking the arrow on the bottom right corner of the Font section of the ribbon. Select the Advanced tab in the window. Check the box for Kerning for fonts under Character Spacing.
To open and edit a HWP file, open a supported Microsoft Word program, choose HWP 5.0 type in file open filter, and select a HWP file. To convert a HWP file to a DOCX file, run BATCHHWPCONV.exe, choose File option, source and target files, and press Convert button.
A file with the HWP file extension is a Hangul Word Processor file, or sometimes called a Hanword Document file.
Go to Home and select Line and Paragraph Spacing Line Spacing Options at the bottom of the menu. The Paragraph dialog box opens. On the Indents and Spacing tab, select the options you want, and click OK. The Paragraph dialog box options are described in Adjust indents and spacing.

Kerning refers to the spacing between characters in a proportional font. So when using kerning with letters, punctuation, and symbols fit together nicely, youll see less space between them. As an example, the upper case letters A and V can benefit from less space between them because of how well they align: AV.
Adjust kerning manually In the Character panel or the Control panel, type or select a numeric value in the Kerning menu. Press Alt+Left/Right Arrow (Windows) or Option+Left/Right Arrow (Mac OS) to decrease or increase the kerning between two characters.
