Proposal Components Cover Sheet/Face page. Table of Contents. Abstract or Project Summary. Project Description/Research Plan/Statement of Work. Biographical Sketch. Bibliography and References Cited. Budget and Budget Justification. Facilities, Equipment and Other Resources.
However, as a general rule, a project proposal should be concise and to the point while still providing enough information to fully describe the project, including the purpose, scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, budget, and potential impact.
Managers who screen suggestions are busy and have short attention spans, so the ability to be succinct can make or break an idea. They want proposals that are neither skimpy nor turgid. And 250 words is often just right.
One of the main things to remember about the project proposal document is that it has to be short and sweet discussing all the essentials without using flowery language or memoir-like formats. Ideally, it should take 1-2 pages, depending on how big your project is going to be.
In certain cases a few very short and general phrases are sufficient (when the proposal is 2-3 pages), while in other cases all the major points must be set out in detail (then the proposal would be 30-50 pages).
How to write a one page proposal? Title. Executive summary and description. Deliverables. Timeline. Pricing. Additional terms. Call to action. Contact information and signature.
While there is not a page limitation, it is important to be concise and to select only those literature references pertinent to the proposed research. Proposal Length: The written proposal must be 12 pages in length, including figures. (The Bibliography is not included in the 12-page count, nor is the title page.)
When you write a proposal document, you want to make a good impression on your potential client or funder. One way to do that is to format your document professionally and clearly. A cover page and a table of contents are two essential elements that can help you achieve that goal.
