A guy needs somebody―to be near him. A guy goes nuts if he aint got nobody. Dont make no difference who the guy is, longs hes with you. I tell ya, I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an he gets sick.
You bindle bums think youre so damn good. This is an allusion to the slang term bindle bums, used to refer to ranch hands and farm workers of the 1930s since they were always moving from place to place with a bindle, or bundle of their belongings on their backs.
You keep away from Curley, Lennie If I was bright, if I was even a little bit smart, Id have my own little place Guys like us, that work on the ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world They aint got nothing to look ahead to. We travel together, George said coldly.
Because Lennie killed Curleys wife and George kind of knew it was never going to happen. Whats interesting about the last paragraph? Curley acts like nothing bad just happened. He doesnt care.
A guy on a ranch dont never listen nor he dont ast no questions. Of Mice and Men, Chapter 2.
Answer and Explanation: The last line of the novel comes in response to George killing Lennie, and Slim comforting him, saying that he had to do it. George knows this, but still feels guilty and sad.
Carlson asks the last question because it is symbolic of the fact that all the men on the ranch have downfalls. Carlsons was lack of empathy and understanding of emotion and how much anguish George must feel after having to kill his best friend.
I was only foolin, George. I dont want no ketchup. I wouldnt eat no ketchup if it was right here beside me. If it was here, you could have some. But I wouldnt eat none, George. Id leave it all for you.
Last lines teach us lessons, give us memorable images, and provide the note that carries the reader away from the story and back into his or her world. If ever there were a place to make every word count, your last line is it.
