Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) treatment requires Members to the most favourable tariff and regulatory treatment given to the product of any one Member at the time of import or export of like products to all other Members. This is a founding principle of the WTO.
The World Trade Organizations 164 members commit to treating other members equally so they can all benefit from each others lowest tariffs, highest import quotas and fewest trade barriers for goods and services. This principle of non-discrimination is known as most favoured nation (MFN) treatment.
Chinas MFN status was made permanent on December 27, 2001. All of the former Soviet states, including Russia, were granted MFN status in 1996.
CMS published a final rule in the Federal Register on December 27, 2021, that rescinds the November 27, 2020, MFN Model interim final rule with comment period and removes the associated regulatory text at 42 CFR part 513 (these actions withdrew the MFN Model), effective February 28, 2022.
